  • Diversity and inclusion

    Mixed Classroom in Practice workshop series
    Do you want to harness the potential of diversity in your classrooms, and cultivate knowledge and perspectives? Would you like to transform your classrooms into safe environments of learning and exchanging views, for all students? How does one handle the discussion of sensitive topics, which can strongly influence the atmosphere? In the 'Mixed Classroom in Practice Workshop serie', you will learn how to develop concrete learning activities based on the three phases of the VU Mixed Classroom in Practice model. This interactive programme explores relevant literature, fosters a peer feedback environment where hot moments in the classroom are discussed, and provides assistance on designing teaching techniques.   • Assessments / Senior Qualification Examination

    Senior Qualification Examination (SKE-IO)
    Are you working on the quality of assessments at a cross-curricular level and do you want to think through a learning line and the corresponding assessment policy, in order to verbalise it from a design perspective? In the Senior Qualification Examination (SKE-IO), you take the time to approach testing from a perspective of vision and policy. By doing so, you gain insight into the structure of your own testing organisation, who has a responsibility in it and how you can ensure this responsibility is actually met. You develop yourself as an assessment expert enabling you to guide your colleagues in the assessment process and provide appropriate, practical tools. This way, you will achieve a solid assessment policy that is properly structured. This video shows how other participants experienced this programme at VU-CTL. Starts 5 November 2024.

  • Educational innovation and design

    Big ideas in curriculum design
    Are you eager to transform your approach to curriculum design? Keen on inspiring  your students with innovative learning experiences? Do you aim to create engaging, relevant, and forward-thinking curricula that prepare students for the demands of the future? Join our course, 'Big Ideas in Curriculum Design', and take your educational practice to the next level. Starts 24 and 25 October 2024.

    Senior Qualification in Didactic Skills (SDB) for lecturers at universities of applied sciences
    Do you want to know how to move from good ideas to educational improvements and how to get your colleagues to join in? Are you often the pioneer of educational innovations, looking beyond your own courses and subject area? In the ‘SDB for college teachers’, you will work on a personal learning question and innovation project in your own course, under the intensive guidance of an experienced education expert. Upon completion, you will have your Didactic Competence (SDB) and you will be proven competent in leading educational innovation at curriculum level. Starts 25 September 2024.

    Building Strong Teams in Education

  • Student wellbeing and engagement

    NEW: Working with Students as Teachers
    Discover the transformative power of student-led learning. Whether you're a seasoned educator or a new teacher, this programme is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively engage students as co-teachers. In an era where student voice and agency are paramount, harnessing the potential of students as teachers is key to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. From peer tutoring to student-led discussions, this course explores a range of strategies and best practices for empowering students to take ownership of their learning journey. Date: 19 September 2024 or 21 November 2024.

    Coaching students
    Would you like to coach your students towards more self-responsible study behaviour? In this course for both beginning and experienced teachers, you will learn to conduct (even) more effective coaching conversations. The conversation types involved are introduction, (problem) clarification, progress, setting learning goals, feedback and confrontation, and conversations in which behavioural change is central. Starts 19 September 2024.
