Message in response to the situation in Ukraine

25 February 2022
We are shocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As a university, we are very concerned about the dramatic situation and developments in Ukraine and the consequences this has for the inhabitants, the universities and the academic community in Ukraine.

We deeply sympathize with our affected students, staff and their families. Given the current situation and developments, we do what we can to support those who are directly or indirectly affected by this.

We are in contact with our Ukrainian students and staff. We are looking for possibilities of further help and support for both our Ukrainian and our Russian students in the event of financial or other needs.

There has also been contact with our partner university in Ukraine, the U.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in Kharkov. The university is located in a war zone in the east of the country. Many employees there are trying to find a safe home. We are looking into the possibilities of offering help to these academics in Ukraine.

All our Ukrainian and Russian students and staff can always contact us with questions or concerns through our International Office, where colleagues are ready to help them.
