International Support Services

Our International Office offers excellent services and will assist you before, during and after your studies at VU Amsterdam.

If you have practical questions about your stay in the Netherlands or if you would just like to talk to someone from the International Office, you can come by the Global Room on Tuesday or Thursday between 13:00 and 15:00. The Global Room is located in the Main Building (HG-1A36).

  • International Student Advisors

    Every international degree programme has its own International Student Advisor(s), also called ISAs, who are happy to help you during the application process. The ISA will be your main point of contact and can help with questions about the programme, admission requirements or the application procedure.   • Immigration services for students

  • Accommodation for students

    The International Office offers accommodation to international students in the first year of their English-taught degree programme. The number of rooms available is limited so we cannot guarantee accommodation for every student.     VU Amsterdam has a limited number of studios available. These studios are offered exclusively for international (non-Dutch) staff, guests and PhD candidates who do not yet live in the Netherlands.   • Semester in Amsterdam

    Semester in Amsterdam is an all-inclusive, non-degree programme for students wishing to study in Amsterdam for one semester or a full academic year.   • Summer & Winter School

    VU Amsterdam Summer School offers interactive small-scale courses at Bachelor and Master level. VU Graduate Winter School offers a variety of intensive, trans-disciplinary online short courses for Master students, PhD candidates and professionals.   • Outgoing exchange students

  • Career Development Services

    More and more international students that study in Amsterdam, also wish to start their first job in the area. To guide students in finding a job, and more important even, in finding a matching career, we offer Career Development Services.

  • Introduction activities

    We offer an online introduction in August where you can get to know your fellow students. We will also provide you with practical information about steps to take once you arrive. The programme for Bachelor's and Master's students slightly differs.
