International Support Services

Our International Office offers excellent services and will assist you before, during and after your studies at VU Amsterdam.

If you have practical questions about your stay in the Netherlands or if you would just like to talk to someone from the International Office, you can come by the Global Room on Tuesday (Outgoing Exchange Team), Wednesday (Incoming Exchange Team) or Thursday (Services Team) between 12:30 and 13:30. The Global Room is located in the Main Building (HG-1A36).

  • International Student Advisors

    Every international degree programme has its own International Student Advisor(s), also called ISAs, who are happy to help you during the application process. The ISA will be your main point of contact and can help with questions about the programme, admission requirements or the application procedure.   • Immigration services for students

    Our services team assists students with the immigration procedure. If you have any questions about your visa or residence permit, please contact studentimmigration@vu.nl.   • Immigration services for staff (employees and guests)

  • Accommodation for students

    The International Office offers accommodation to international students in the first year of their English-taught degree programme. The number of rooms available is limited so we cannot guarantee accommodation for every student.   • Accommodation for staff

    VU Amsterdam has a limited number of studios available. These studios are offered exclusively for international (non-Dutch) staff, guests and PhD candidates who do not yet live in the Netherlands.   • Incoming exchange students

  • Semester in Amsterdam

    Semester in Amsterdam is an all-inclusive, non-degree programme for students wishing to study in Amsterdam for one semester or a full academic year.   • Summer & Winter School

    VU Amsterdam Summer School offers interactive small-scale courses at Bachelor and Master level. VU Graduate Winter School offers a variety of intensive, trans-disciplinary online short courses for Master students, PhD candidates and professionals.   • Outgoing exchange students

    During your degree programme, you have the opportunity to study abroad. As an exchange student, you will study at a VU Amsterdam partner university for a semester.
