Better decisions for a better world

Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)

The majority of PPE graduates continue to do a Master’s programme in one of the three disciplines (philosophy, politics or economics) or in a related subject like global ethics, environmental policy or development studies.

PPE graduates make excellent opinion leaders and decision makers due to the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills they've acquired, as well as the multi-disciplinary nature of the programme itself. Whatever you choose to do, you are sure to be highly employable. Have a look at our alumni stories below to get inspired!

What can you do after your Bachelor’s degree?

Further your education

A Master's degree in your chosen track or specialisation is a logical next step, although there are also related subjects that would make a good fit - either at VU Amsterdam, elsewhere in the Netherlands or abroad. You can choose a Master’s programme in, amongst others, one of the following domains:

Philosophy
Political Science
Economics
Public Policy
Media Studies
Development Studies
Environmental Policy
Law and Politics of International Security

Start your career

As a PPE graduate, you're ready to take on the world: whether as a politician in government, as a consultant for a think-tank, as a reporter or journalist for a media outlet, as a researcher at an academic institution, or as a leader in a commercial company or for a non-governmental organization.

Plus, the PPE programme at VU Amsterdam gives you plenty of opportunities to make contact with potential future employers during your studies. We invite a range of guest speakers - including academics, politicians, activists, reporters and bankers - to give presentations about their careers and how these relate to PPE.
