Second cohort of MBA students started at VU

13 September 2022
This September the second cohort of MBA students started at VU SBE. Our 20 new students were warmly welcomed by the MBA programme directors Jost Sieweke and Janneke Oostrom and by an inspirational speech of the VU’s Chief Impact Officer, Davide Iannuzzi. This second cohort of MBA students will join last year’s ‘Community of change-makers’.

After Davide Iannuzzi’s inspiring talk, Naiza Guttiérez EMBA student of the first cohort, took the stage to reflect on her first year and to impart some great advice. ‘There are going to be moments that you will think: why did I disrupt my comfortable life to go for another study next to my job? That is all normal, because this journey will be intense but rewarding.’ Naiza does not see her MBA only as a career step, but first and foremost as a time to reflect on what is important to her in her work and daily life. ‘Take that time and enjoy it, because this is not something you will experience very often. This MBA shaped the path of my future.’

This new cohort of MBA students is working on a wide range of industries at companies like KLM-Air France, Albert Heijn, DSM, Randstad, JoyPac, Rabobank and DHL. In the upcoming 18 months they will come together once a month to participate in discussions, lectures, group assignments and digital business simulations.

VU Amsterdam offers an MBA programme in International Business, which is aimed at young professionals and an Executive MBA programme Leading with Purpose targeted at seasoned professionals. Do you want to know more about these programmes and the scholarship opportunities? Please contact us.

Executive MBA candidate Naiza Gutiérrez

Naiza Gutiérrez, Manager Billing & Collection at LeasePlan Nederland about her first months as a VU EMBA candidate: ''The unique part about this programme is that you first start with a deep reflection on your purpose and your own goals, instead of starting with the common business challenges in this business role.''
