Announcing the winners of the FSS Education Prizes 2022

4 October 2022
During the FSS Education Festival, an award ceremony was held to announce and celebrate the winners of several FSS Education prizes.

Within our faculty, we look for students who inspire, and who not only stand out within the VU but also outside the VU. This year, we found such a pearl amongst our students again. A student who is a great academic and who shows a great drive to mean something to society. The jury appreciates her efforts as a green ambassador, legal advisor, volunteer, and her involvement in the mentoring programme. Our faculty winner and nominee for the VU-wide StudenTalent prize is Kiara Vos!

The FSR held an online poll amongst our students, to find the most inspirational lecturer within our faculty. The three amazingly talented nominees for the FSS DocenTalent prize are Aalt Smienk, Gianni Quadvlieg and Wiebe de Jong. Our FSS DocenTalent and also our nominee for the VU-wide DocenTalent prize is Wiebe de Jong!

We also announced the FSS winner and our nominee for the VU-wide Van der Duijn Schouten Education Prize. This is the prize for the experienced lecturer who is not only highly appreciated by the students, but can also show an education vision and knows how to connect the world outside the VU with education. Two outstanding lecturers were nominated: Mattijs van de Port and Yvette Taminiau. Both have excellent student reviews; are very passionate about their field, and make students think outside of their bubble. Because of her strong alumni relations, her vision on education and her ambitions in trans-disciplinary education, the winner is Yvette Taminiau!

All faculty winners will be nominated for the central VU Education Prizes.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners for their outstanding work!
