Supervise an internship or thesis effectively and efficiently

Supervision and Assessment of Internships and Theses

Graduation projects like theses and internships are crucial and intensive components of the curriculum. From you as the supervisor, the process requires commitment and a variety of skills. In this course you will learn how to make the supervision of graduation projects as efficient and effective as possible. For the student, but also for yourself.

In the final phase of university studies, it is important to offer students adequate individual supervision. The course 'supervision and assessment of graduation projects' (formerly 'supervision and assessment of internships and theses') prepares you thoroughly for this. You will learn to address common problems in the supervision and assessment of graduation projects. You will explore methods to 'tailor' the student's learning process, design a supervision plan, and learn how to assess theses and internships fairly and transparently. You will also practice interview techniques and giving effective student feedback. Finally, we pay attention to group supervision and assessment of theses as developed and implemented in the Bachelor of Science, Business & Innovation.

The course consists of four half-day meetings. You will also spend approximately 6 hours preparing for the meetings and working on assignments.

This course is open to participants inside and outside of VU Amsterdam.
