Call for Proposals: CTL SoTL fund 2025/2026

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) fund gives educators the chance to test their ideas for improving education in practice and to inform and inspire the VU community with their findings.

Application guidelines and information
A team of educators that want to implement and evaluate a bright idea for future-proofing their education can submit a concise proposal. A team can consist of educators from the same degree program and/ or faculty, or different ones. Successful proposals receive a budget of max. €10.000 (e.g. hours for (re)design, technical support, and recording of knowledge clips). They are also supported by educational experts from the VU Centre for Teaching & Learning for the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and dissemination of (the results of) the project.

A proposal consists of a completed application form or completed online form (in English or Dutch), plus a letter of support from a line manager or programme director connected to the main applicant.

You can apply in two ways:

If you have a VU email address, complete the online form.
If you do not have a VU email address and therefore do not have access to VU Amsterdam’s online environment (e.g. you use a UMC address), complete the application form in Word and send it together with a letter of support as a single PDF to ctl@vu.nl, with the subject line “CTL SoTL Fund 2025–26”.

Deadline for application
The deadline for applications to the CTL SoTL fund is 31 October 2025 at 23:59. The winning proposals receive communication in December 2025.
