The Master’s degree programme in Archaeology will provide you with ample opportunities to explore new methods, current themes and up-to-date knowledge in the archaeology of Europe and the Mediterranean from the Bronze Age until the early Modern Period.
The programme offers two tracks:
You will become familiar with general themes such as Mobility and Migration, Historical Archaeology, Heritage and how to do research. These will be specified according to specialisation: European and Mediterranean Archaeology or Digital Archaeology and Heritage. The small-scale setting of the programme provides the ideal setting to combine theory and practice.
Archaeology in Amsterdam
This Master’s degree programme is offered jointly by two universities. The University of Amsterdam and VU Amsterdam have combined their expertise in the fields of Archaeology, Ancient History and Classics in the Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA). This merging of specialisations creates a stimulating environment for collaboration and study and extends the options when it comes to the supervision of your Master’s Thesis.
