Thesis awards FGW

When you, as a student, accomplish an exceptional achievement in your studies, you will be eligible for the award for best Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis of the faculty.

Each year, during the award ceremony in October, the faculty celebrates the rich diversity of the academic writing, the excellent academic achievements and the advancement of the Humanities. The thesis-students who have scored an 8.5 or higher will be asked if they want to compete for the award.

The jury will choose a winner from a list of nominees for both the Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis. The jury selects the winner on the basis of scientific quality, originality, style and legibility. The winners of the Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis awards will each receive 500 euros and a certificate. These winners will also automatically compete for the VU-wide competition for best Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis. The faculty also has the DURF-award, which is awarded to a thesis-student who explores areas outside their field and/or manages to show an interesting connection between theory and practice. The winner will receive 250 euros and a certificate.

To be eligible for the thesis-award, you will need to meet a number of conditions. You can find these conditions in the regulations of the faculty.
