VU Amsterdam is a community of learners: we grow together, training, and striving to create thriving learning environments. The path of educational development for VU teachers begins with the Start to Teach day, and the first step towards teacher professionalization is the Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs (BKO) or the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). This programme equips teachers to design active, blended, inclusive, and smart courses, to effectively supervise, to self-reflect, and incorporate VU’s Educational Vision into practice.
The next step is geared towards personal as well as competency development focusing on particular themes and topics such as the Mixed Classroom in Practice or becoming an expert in educational design, leading up to the Senior Kwalificatie Onderwijs (SKO) or the Senior Teaching Qualification (STQ), to help you to improve your coordinating and management skills in education.
The development path further expands to encompass educational leadership programmes such as the Leergang Onderwijskundig Leiderschap (LOL), and various other (also bespoke) possibilities that stimulate and support you towards flourishing in the community.
