VU Amsterdam joins University Social Responsibility Network

13 May 2022
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam will contribute to the promotion of social responsibility in the University Social Responsibility Network.

The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) is a global network for the promotion of social responsibility as a core component of the academic mission. USRN's mission fits VU Amsterdam very well and will help us to realise our strategic goals. The network currently has 20 members, and we are USRN’s first member institution in the Netherlands. On behalf of VU Amsterdam, President Mirjam van Praag and director of the International Office Frans Snijders take place in the USRN Executive Committee.

The USRN provides its participating members with an effective platform for productive collaboration in all USR fields. Based on the belief that universities have obligation to work together to address the economic, social, cultural and environmental challenges in the world and to find solutions so as to make our world more just, inclusive, peaceful and sustainable, the USRN was established in 2015, bringing together a group of thought leaders to exchange ideas, resources, practices of varied scope and scale to steer global discussion and development of USR in higher education.
