Martijn Schut is a newly appointed visiting Professor in the Quantitative Data Analytics group. Martijn is a full professor at the VU Faculty of Medicine with a research line on translational Artificial Intelligence in laboratory medicine. Martijn is no stranger to the department: after he graduated in AI (1993-98) he was an assistant professor in the Agent-based systems and Computational Intelligence research groups (2001-11). In recent years he worked at the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, at the medical informatics department. With QDA he will focus on the development, validation and implementation of the AI models and algorithms and how to apply these responsibly in the laboratory and clinical practice.

His inauguration speech: BETER MET BYTES will take place on 18 November, 15.45 in the Aula of the VU. You're very welcome to attend!
