Societal impact of GenAI

Share

How do we view GenAI: as an opportunity, a risk, or something in between? In this session, you will engage in discussions about different perspectives and uncover the assumptions that underpin them.

You will develop your own informed position on the role of GenAI in society and what this means for education and future professionals.

At the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Explain how different perspectives on GenAI (techno-optimists, techno-realists and techno-critics) relate to one another.
  • Analyze the arguments and assumptions behind these perspectives and identify the key differences and tensions.
  • Formulate well-reasoned positions on the societal role of GenAI, including implications for education and future professionals.

Facilitator: Sebastien Valkenberg
Delivery: on campus
External participants welcome: no
