What research data management tasks need to be carried out during your research?
During the research process, your primary data management concerns are:
- Collecting & storing data
- Processing & analyzing data
The Technical Support for Research department can also assist you with choosing the right software for data collection.
If you need to share data with others during your research, review these pages on secure data transfer and secure physical transport.
During your research it is also important that you maintain documentation on your data, including:
- Documentation that describes your data so that it can be properly interpreted
- Documentation of the research process, including documentation of data processing and analysis in the form of code (a.k.a. scripts, syntaxes)
- Documentation of any changes to your original research plans in your data management plan and/or your pre-registration
