Coach and guide students effectively

You look out for students and would like to coach them towards more self-responsible study behavior. In this course you will learn to conduct more goal-oriented coaching conversations. The conversation forms involved are getting acquainted, (problem) clarification, setting progress and learning goals, feedback and confrontation, and conversations in which behavior change is central.

Of course you already have the necessary knowledge and experience. You improve your own coaching style in this module by analyzing what you are already good at and where you can still improve. By consciously practicing with a conversation agenda, goals and conversation techniques, during the meetings. In addition, we organize and organize your own feedback so that you get a better picture of your progress. For this we use some reflection and coaching models, video and you learn to work in a structured way.

For whom
This course is for student advisors and teachers who have an eye for the individual student. Executives can also take the course if they want to coach their colleagues. In terms of content, it is a deepening of the coaching part in the Basic Teaching Qualification. However, you do not need to have a UTQ to participate in this course. It is important that you have conversations with students or colleagues. As a student advisor or as a lecturer, from a mentorship or tutorship of your faculty. One-on-one or in small groups. You will work with your own case histories so that you can practice between course days.

This course is open to participants inside and outside of VU Amsterdam.
