Deepen your skills to tackle the economic challenges of tomorrow

Become a highly skilled economist

The Master’s in Economics is a one-year programme that takes your economic thinking to the next level. You’ll train to become an economist with advanced expertise, able to address complex challenges that have both micro and macro dimensions.

The programme emphasises the core skills that set economists apart:

  • Model-based thinking — learn to strip down complex realities into clear economic models, so you can identify the mechanisms that really matter.
  • Microeconomic analysis — study how individuals, households, and firms make choices, and how incentives and trade-offs shape their behaviour.
  • Macroeconomic reasoning — analyse the interactions between markets and sectors, recognising feedback loops, spillovers, and economy-wide effects.
  • Econometric skills — apply statistical methods to real datasets to detect patterns, test theories, and evaluate the impact of policies.

Advanced core courses provide a solid foundation for these skills, while field courses, a research project, and the master’s thesis allow you to put them into practice.

Programme structure:

  • Period 1 (Sep–Oct): Advanced Microeconomics and Advanced Econometrics — build on your previous training and strengthen your analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Period 2 (Nov–Dec): Advanced Macroeconomics plus one field course from the list below.
  • Period 3 (Jan): Research Project — conduct econometric analysis and academic writing under personal supervision.
  • Period 4 (Feb–Mar): Two field courses from the list below, applying your skills to real-world issues.
  • Periods 5–6 (Apr–Jun): Master’s thesis — make an original contribution to economic research under close faculty guidance.

The combination of rigorous academic training, small-scale learning environment, and personal supervision ensures you get the most out of your studies.

The start date of this programme is September 1st
