When we think of war, we immediately think of the role of terrorist groups, and of Syria or Afghanistan. However, there are also wars in the world of technology and ICT. Consider the security of files and data leaks, for example. At VU Amsterdam, you will study war from different perspectives. For example, you can study the political, legal, social, ethical and security aspects of war and peace, as well as relationships between these aspects. Or you can choose a programme in which you learn to think like a hacker so you can prevent possible cyber attacks.
In all of our study programmes, you will focus on contemporary societal problems and real-life situations. Along with our academic staff and other students from the Netherlands and abroad, you will examine the different ways in which wars originate, are waged and can be prevented. International security can be viewed from political, legal, social and technological angles. And at VU Amsterdam, you will get to explore all of these.
