Security is essential, but unfortunately, it is not always self-evident to everyone. If you want to study security, you will deal with sensitive information and learn how to safeguard data. In cooperation with various Dutch and international organisations, the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement studies diverse social issues related to security and justice. Students and juvenile delinquents work together in the Inside Out project, and students focus on miscarriages of justice in Project Reasonable Doubt (Gerede Twijfel).
Would you like to find out how knowledge of crime can make society safer? Or are you interested in how the law can protect Red Cross volunteers? Are you perhaps curious about the rights of refugees or the labour laws that apply to Uber drivers? Or would you like to be involved in a prevention programme focusing on the differences between female and male criminals? Then, studying security at VU Amsterdam is the best choice. In your way, you can make a real contribution to a safer society.
