Register disability
Last updated on 20 February 2025
What other support is available for students with disabilities?

In addition to facilities, other forms of support are available. These include training, workshops, counseling and psychological help.

Support for students with disabilities

  • Training

    For students, there are various training courses to help you study optimally. The training courses teach you to study better, increase your self-confidence and, for example, make better presentations. There are also special training courses for students with autism and ADHD, offered by our student psychologists.

    Find out what training and courses are available and how they can support you during your studies. Go to Trainings for optimal study for the full range on offer and to register.

  • Financial advice

    If you study with a disability, you may take longer to complete your studies. This brings additional costs. There are several financial arrangements for students with disabilities.

    Student Support Fund
    Arrangements via DUO
    Individual study allowance via the municipality
    Postponement of BSA

    If you would like to know more about the possibilities and conditions of the financial arrangements, make an appointment with the student dean.

  • Student psychologist

    Do you have study-related or personal problems? Then make an appointment with the student psychologist for short-term, solution-oriented support. Learn more about the student psychologist and what they can do for you.

  • Workshops on transition to employment

    VU provides workshops for students with disabilities on the transition to employment. These workshops offer practical insights and tools if you will be working with a disability. During these workshops you will learn:

    • about laws and regulations related to working with a disability;
    • discover your talents;
    • how to present yourself on the job market;
    • which career opportunities are available to you.

    The workshops are given by the VU HR expertise point Working with an Employment Disability & the Infopunt Studying with an Employment Disability. The workshops are scheduled in 2025 on Tuesdays, Feb. 25, March 4 and 11.

    For questions or applications, please contact the Participation Service Point VU.
