Examination facilities

Register disability
Last updated on 19 March 2025
Exam facilities are facilities that enable you to take your exam.

The most common facilities are described below. Do you need something else? Discuss it with your study advisor.

Examination facilities you can apply for:

  • Low stimulus room

If you need to take exams in a quiet environment, the facilities room is for you. Read more about the low stimulus room.

  • Extra time for exam

If you have a valid dyslexia or ADHD statement and have registered your functional impairment, the extra time accommodation will be granted automatically. If you need extra time for another reason, discuss this with your study advisor.

If you qualify for extra time on exams, you will receive an additional 30 minutes on top of the regular exam duration.

You can check your schedule to see in which room or block your exam takes place. Always sit at the back of the room. If your exam is held in multiple rooms or blocks, go to the room or block with the highest number. For example, if your exam is in blocks 02, 04, and 05, sit at the back of block 05. This helps the invigilators maintain a clear overview.

  • Digital exam

Is it not possible for you to take written exams? Then the digital exam facility is for you. If the exam is written, a digital exam will be available for you. You take this exam in the resource room.

  • Extra toilet visits during exams

During exams, you are allowed to go to the toilet after 90 minutes, under supervision of an invigilator. If you need to go to the toilet earlier, you can request the facility 'extra toilet during exams'.

  • Eating and drinking during exams

No eating is allowed during an examination. Drinking is only allowed from a transparent, sealable bottle placed on the floor. Do you need to eat during the examination, or are you unable to place your drinking bottle on the floor? Then apply for the provision food and drink during examinations.

  • Use of medication during exams

Do you need medication at set times, or just at unscheduled times? Can't put off taking medicine until after your exam? Then apply for the facility 'taking medicine during exams'.

  • Other examination facilities

Do you need a facility during exams that is not described? Make an appointment with your study advisor and discuss what is possible. Do this well before your exams start.
