How do you make online and blended education more inclusive? During the pandemic, teachers struggled with this and students were looking for more engagement, inclusivity and accessibility. Sociology teacher Marieke Slootman researched and developed e-inclusion guidelines that ensure every student feels welcome. She recommends five pillars: develop awareness and reflection, know your students, use more diverse content, deploy diverse teaching practices, and ensure an inclusive learning environment. She found that digital tools lend themselves very well for supporting these pillars, and that students are also keen to contribute to improving e-inclusion.
