Learn Dutch & make the most of your time studying in Amsterdam

Language course Basic Dutch on Campus

Do you study at VU Amsterdam and want to speak Dutch with other students and in stores, restaurants and bars? Then Basic Dutch on Campus is for you!

After the course, you will be able to introduce yourself, go shopping, order a meal or drink and have a chat in Dutch. Basic Dutch on Campus is a practical language course especially for VU students. You will learn the language for everyday life and get to know Dutch culture. The 15 language classes are once a week on campus (Tuesday evenings) and you do lots of practical assignments. So you immediately notice how well you can already speak Dutch! The course will also include 3 culture classes.

With Basic Dutch on Campus:

  • you learn Dutch for everyday student life
  • during the lessons, you work together in small groups to practice speaking
  • practice the language with practical assignments
  • discover Dutch culture and history
  • meet international students from other VU programmes
  • feel more 'at home' as a student at VU Amsterdam

Who is it for?
This course is for all international VU students, including exchange students. There are no classes during exam weeks and you can easily combine the course with your studies and possibly work.
