Bring the true Aurora purpose into life

Bridging Borders: Designing Inclusive Futures in Education - A MIXED Model Approach

How can education remain radically sincere, dialogical, and connected in an increasingly polarized world? This Blended Intensive Programme invites educators within the Aurora network to explore this question through the Mixed Classroom Educational Model (MCEM) developed at VU Amsterdam.

The "Bridging Borders: Designing Inclusive Futures in Education" (BIP) is designed to foster inclusive, innovative, and interconnected learning for a diverse cohort of educators and/or students. Using the Mixed Classroom Educational Model (and MIXED Model), the programme emphasizes both personal and collective growth in understanding inclusion, identity, and cross-cultural perspectives. By blending virtual and physical components, the BIP aims to create a comprehensive and immersive learning journey that encourages participants to explore and implement inclusive strategies in their professional contexts.

MCEM offers a practical and reflective framework for creating inclusive learning environments that can hold discomfort, foster dialogue, and equips teachers with a students as partners focus on creating safe learning environment that can handle discomfort and facilitate courage. The program combines online preparation, an intensive in-person week, and applied follow-up, guiding participants from conceptual understanding to concrete implementation.

This BiP expects participants to become co-facilitators in the process. We believe in the power of experiential and socioemotional learning which is why you will lead a sensitizing activity and microlesson during the week you will visit VU Amsterdam.

For whom?
The programme is tailored for a diverse mix of educational developers/teachers from all Aurora partner universities. The ideal group size is 17 participants, creating a balanced environment that allows for meaningful interactions and collaboration while maintaining manageability for online and in-person components.
