Are you looking for a deeper theoretical understanding of language acquisition? Do you want to work with children with language difficulties?

Then the minor Language Development and Disorders is for you.

Admission and registration

  • Admission Requirements

    This minor is open to

    • third year (WO-)students with a background in gamma sciences who want to specialize in language development and disorders (e.g., Pedagogy, Psychology, Educational Sciences)
    • third year (WO-)students from all other disciplines with a broad interest in language, hearing and cognition.  
    • Exchange students
    • Third/fourth year (hbo-) students who want to specialize in language development and disorders (e.g. Pabo, Logopedie, Pedagogiek).

    Students from CIS: Applied Linguistics cannot take this minor due to an overlap with the regular programme.

    Are you not studying at the School of Humanities at VU Amsterdam and want to take this minor? Then ask permission from your own examination board first. Make sure that this permission is finalized before registration for the courses starts.

    You have to sign in for the courses that fall under this minor. You can do that through the registration module on VU.nl. Check the applicable registration deadlines.
