A spatial perspective on heritage

Architecture, Cities, Landscapes (pre-master)

Are you interested in architecture and heritage? Do you want to develop a critical perspective on the preservation and transformation of our environment?

Then the pre-master's programme in Architecture, City, and Landscape is perfect for you. Check if you meet the admission requirements and apply now.

Please find the admission requirements below and apply:

  • Admission requirements

    Why the Pre-Master programme?

With a Bachelor's degree, you cannot  enter the Master's in Architecture, City, Landscape: History and Heritage directly. However, you can be admitted to the study after successfully completing the pre-master's Architecture, City, Landscape or the minor 'erfgoed en ruimte'. The Admissions Committee assesses each application and will determine whether you are admissible to the pre-master's programme.

In all cases, the pre-master's programme, which is determined by the Admissions Board, can only be started in September.

    English language requirement

This pre-master's programme prepares for an English-language master's programme. Therefore, prior to starting the pre-master's programme, candidates must already be able to demonstrate a sufficient command of the English language.

Although we prefer a complete application, you can also apply before you have taken an English language test.

You will find an overview of all accepted tests and scores you can use to demonstrate your English language skills on the language requirements page.

Do you meet the admission requirements? Then apply for the pre-master's program.

    1. Apply for the pre-master's program in Studielink no later than June 1.
After registering in Studielink, you will receive login information for your VU Dashboard.
    2. Complete your application in your VU Dashboard. Complete the application form and upload it in your dashboard.
If you are a student of the Faculty of Humanities, you do not need to submit an application form. However, you should complete the application by choosing "upload later".
    3. Upon receipt of your application, your admission request will be processed and you will be notified whether you have been admitted or must first meet additional requirements. If you are not admitted, you will receive a notification with the exact reason.
    4. Arrange payment of tuition and complete your enrollment by August 31.
    5. Check if you need to take an English language test. Check the language requirements page to see what steps you may need to complete

An application is not the same as an enrollment. When you register for a program in Studielink, you are not yet enrolled. You are only enrolled when you receive notification from Studielink. To this end, you must have submitted all required documents by June 1 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and arranged payment of tuition fees by August 31 at the latest.

An application, or request for admission, commits you to nothing and can be cancelled free of charge until August 31.

View the application process page for more information
