Learn to manage the flow of funds

How do you decide which investments are worth pursuing? How do you finance growth responsibly? And how do sustainability, risk, and stakeholder expectations shape the financial choices firms make today? In a business environment defined by uncertainty, transformation, and increasing societal scrutiny, organisations need financial professionals who can combine analytical rigour with strategic judgement. The Master’s specialisation in Financial Management at VU Amsterdam prepares you to make informed capital budgeting, financing, investment, and reporting decisions that create long-term value.

You will develop a solid, multidisciplinary foundation in corporate financial management, from raising and allocating capital to evaluating strategic projects, managing risk, and understanding the financial implications of sustainability. The programme also strengthens your academic mindset, enabling you to keep expanding your knowledge throughout your career. At VU Amsterdam, financial management is treated as more than a purely technical discipline. You will learn to connect financial theory with real-world business challenges, developing the practical insight needed to navigate complex decisions and drive performance in dynamic organisational settings.

If you have the ambition to become a new-generation Chief Financial Officer or to build a career at the intersection of finance and corporate decision-making, the Master’s specialisation in Financial Management is an excellent place to start.
