View communication through a critical lens

Communication and Information Studies

What does the journalism of the future look like? Why do certain words evoke particular associations? How do companies use social media to persuade you to buy things?

In Communication and Information Studies you will learn how communication works and what role language plays in it. You can study how we acquire languages (in the track ‘Language and Mind’) or how to optimize communication (in the track ‘Language and Media’).

The track English Language and Communication Studies will no longer be offered as of 2025-2026.

Which track do you choose?

In this CIS-track (ENG) you learn about media and the effect of multilingual policies in a company. What makes a brand communicate via Twitter or Facebook?
This CIS-track (ENG) is centered on language and cognition. How do we learn, develop, and use language from childhood to adulthood?
