Community over Commercialization

Open Access Week

Open Access Week 2024 will be held October 21-25. This year’s theme ‘Community over Commercialization’ encourages you to think about opening up your research through equitable and scholar-led publishing routes.

Open Access publishing is one of VU's ways of contributing to fair, equal global knowledge exchange and innovation. During Open Access Week, we will highlight inspiring publishing practices using examples from the VU Open Access Innovation Fund. See the news articles below.

Citizen Science

Through Open Access publishing, scientific knowledge becomes more accessible not only to other scientists, but also to citizens. Scientists are also increasingly collaborating with citizens on the research itself. On the second tab of this page you will find information about support for citizen science, for example the Science in the Cloud project and the online knowledge group on Citizen Science at KennisCloud (in Dutch).
