The Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities is represented within several research institutes.
  • Arminius instituut
    Remonant expertise centre for theology, church and society
  • Institute for Academic Study of Eastern Christianity (INASEC)
    The Institute for Academic Study of Eastern Christianity (INASEC) is an international academic platform for high-quality interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research on Eastern Orthodoxy.
  • Institute for Societal Resilience (ISR)
    Established in 2015, the ISR is the research institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities within which researchers, professionals and social partners work together and contribute to finding answers to these complex societal issues. 
  • International Reformed Theological Institute
    IRTI is an international network of about 300 academically involved Reformed scholars, most of them working in the field of systematic theology, church history and ecumenical theology.
  • Network Institute
    The Network Institute is the largest interfaculty research institute at VU Amsterdam and is dedicated to analysing networks of all kinds. At the Network Institute, computer scientists, social scientists, humanities scholars, economists, legal scholars, mathematicians and theologians work together to analyse the technological, economic, social and communicative aspects of networks. Through these combinations of disciplines, new fields of research are explored and cross-links are made that lead to better understanding and applications of our increasingly connected world.
  • Talma Institute
    The Talma Institute combines the knowledge of several VU faculties in the field of healthcare.
