The Social Sciences and Humanities have a unique goal of growing humankind’s understanding of itself and of the fundamentals of human communities, human values and human meaning. It is a goal for which no discipline suffices in isolation but for which SSH disciplines have in common the nature of open enquiry and the habit to connect. The new faculty (as an organization) will help to create all the necessary connections that enable the people working in SSH to succeed with their contributions to our unique goal.
