FRT Faculty Student Council

The Faculty Student Council serves as the point of contact for students and represents students in the Faculty Board.

Officially, it is the role of the Faculty Student Council to advise the Board on the ‘smooth running of the faculty’, student facilities and educational facilities. In around February every year, it is possible to apply for a position within the Faculty Student Council (all students in the faculty are eligible to apply). If you like the idea of playing an important role in the faculty and boosting your CV in the process, please feel free to contact us.

The Faculty Student Council represents the interests of students in the Faculty of Religion and Theology. In order to do our job effectively, we need your help. Do you have any ideas or problems or is there anything else you’d like to see happen or change? If so, send us an email, approach us in the corridors or send a message via Facebook or Twitter.

Council members

Chair

My name’s Boaz van der Velden. I’m hoping to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Theology this year. During this academic year, I have the honour of chairing the Faculty Student Council. Part of my role involves being the point of contact for the Faculty Board and the subcommittee. This also means that I chair some of the joint meetings.

Vice-chair

I’m Mattie Kieviet. In addition to my full-time degree programme in Leiden, Ancient Near East Studies, I've been doing secondary subjects in Theology at VU Amsterdam for several years and hope to start on the MA in Theology and Religious Studies next year. In addition to all the activities that the Faculty Student Council is working on, my role as vice-chair mainly involves liaising with contacts across the university, including the other student councils.

Secretary

My name is Stefan Zwaan. I’m studying at the Restored Reformed Seminary. You’ll also regularly find me on courses offered by other seminaries, by the faculty's various centres and on courses relating to religious studies. I’m the secretary of the Faculty Student Council, which means I’m responsible for communications. That includes the Faculty Student Council email, which you can find below. Feel free to approach us or send us an email if you have any questions, comments, ideas or anything! The Faculty Student Council is on your side.
