VU Sports Center

The VU Sports Center has ample fitness facilities and also offers 35 different sports.

Quality and guidance at Sports Center VU

At VU Sports Center, the following values are central: sporty, customer-oriented, accessible and connecting. We want to offer the best quality and guidance, at every level. Because of the close connection with science and especially Movement Science, we are also able to do so. For example, we coach an individual athlete who works out twice a week with just as much attention and pleasure as rowers and skaters aiming for Olympic gold.

VU Sports Center is a department of the Department of Student & Educational Affairs (SOZ).

Sports and facilities

The sports center has ample fitness facilities and also offers 35 different sports, from fitness to yoga and from indoor soccer to boxing. During the day, the facilities are also regularly used for research and education, supplemented by a sports function aimed at specific target groups: top athletes, athletes with disabilities, overweight people or patients who need or have undergone surgery. Employees of the VU can exercise inexpensively at Sportcentrum VU through the VU in Beweging program.

Sports Cafe

Sportcentrum VU is a modern and multifunctional sports center, but at the same time social and cozy. Our Sports Café offers space to study, socialize and is the place to enjoy a drink and sports images on various screens after sports. VU Sports Center brings people together. Many VU students and employees play sports there, but local residents and companies from the area are also welcome. In the evenings and weekends, it is a bustling student stronghold.

Two locations

Sportcentrum VU has two locations where you can play sports: on Uilenstede and on VU Campus, on the first floor of the OZW Building. They also use the beach volleyball courts on VU Campus and the facilities of AMVJ Tennis.

Future plans

In addition to its own sports and health offerings, the sports center plans to play an important facilitating role. With a possible expansion of Uilenstede, in the form of padel courts, and the creation of additional opportunities on the VU Campus in the future. Primarily, activities will be sought that fit within the central idea and objectives of the VU.

Starting points are:

- Offering an accessible and diverse range of sports and exercise
- Making a contribution in the area of welbeing
- Contributing to the physical and mental development of students

Sportcentum VU brings people together.
