VU teacher Anne de Bruijn on active blended learning

Last updated on 16 March 2023
The flipped classroom method to activate students - active blended learning according to Anne de Bruijn, assistant professor of Educational Sciences.

Her practical example is about activating students by having them study material interactively online before the meetings with the programme FeedbackFruits. With that programme, students discuss the content with each other by making comments in the text and responding to each other's comments. During the meetings, she doesn’t repeat the material but talks directly to her students about the topics that they found striking, important, or difficult: the so-called flip the classroom method. Her presentation incorporates the students' comments. Anne notices that her new approach leads to a better and deeper processing of the learning material.
