  • Basic Dutch on Campus

Are you a VU student? And would you like to learn Dutch alongside your studies to help you feel more at home on campus? The VU offers you the Basic Dutch on Campus course. The first two modules of the evening course Dutch for work and study at a greatly reduced rate. You will join classes together with other participants e.g. expats.

  • Evening course Dutch for Work and Study

With our evening course 'Dutch for work, study and daily life', you will learn the basics of the Dutch language (CEFR level A1) within eight weeks. After the first course, you can choose to continue in the next levels (CEFR A2 to B2). You are free to determine how many courses you would like to take and what level you want to achieve. The courses take place twice a week on Monday and Thursday evening.

If your first language is German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or Afrikaans, you can also choose to take the fast track of this course, which will enable you to reach level B2 in just 7 months!

  • Evening course Academic Dutch Plus

Have you passed the State Exam NT2 (program II), but still run into problems when you need to write papers in your studies? The course Academic Dutch Plus can help you. In three meetings, you will receive additional explanation of what an academic text should look like in Dutch.

  • Saturday course Everyday Dutch

Are you looking for a practical, semi-intensive language course? Join our Saturday course 'Everyday Dutch'. Within four months, you will learn to use and understand the basics of Dutch language (CEFR level A2). Everyday Dutch is a e-learning course with only one class per week, on Saturday morning classes. This gives you the opportunity to combine it with your studies. This course is suitable if you are, for instance, staying in the Netherlands for a short while, or if learning Dutch not a necessity for you. It will give you the tools to do your own shopping, or order a beer or wine.

  • Professional Dutch

If you live and work in the Netherlands, knowledge of the Dutch language is indispensable in your work, study and/or private life. A good command of the language gives self-confidence, contributes to smooth cooperation and enables you to express yourself carefully in conversations and discussions.

The Professional Dutch course is designed for people who already have a fairly good command of the Dutch language, but want to take certain (academic) skills to a higher level. For example, writing formal letters, essays, arguments or work papers or making a presentation.
