If you are given this recognition, you can request access to special facilities, such as a modified class schedule that matches your schedule for training, competitions, rehearsals and performances. You can also request to be placed in tutorials that fit your schedule. In addition, you can request exemptions from mandatory attendance requirements or request to take exams and re-sits at a different time.
Combining your studies with top-level sports or cultural performance
Are you not able to perform to the best of your abilities due to the time constraints of your studies? Then you can request to be recognised as a ‘top student’.
- Recognition as a top-level athlete
You can get recognition as a top-level athlete from VU Amsterdam’s Central Facilities Commission. If you are Dutch, you should have NOC*NSF status or you should have recently taken part in a European or World Championship. In all other cases, VU Amsterdam will ask Topsport Amsterdam to give advice regarding your request.
- Recognition as a top-level cultural performer
The Griffioen Cultural Hub advises the Central Facilities Commission on all requests for recognition as a top-level cultural performer.
For more information on how you can submit a request, please contact the student counsellors at VU Amsterdam.
