Corporate law through society's lens

Corporate law is changing. Economic, climatic and societal upheaval is forcing businesses to develop a sense of context in the world. Tomorrow's business lawyers must develop a flexible and open approach to legal problems. That can even include reconsidering the efficacy of the law itself.

VU Amsterdam does not offer a single International Business Law specialisation. We offer three very clear legal identities covered by separate Master’s specialisations. Each of these specialisations open up a wide range of specific career opportunities in an international environment.

Each specialisation has an outspoken and up-to-date approach to today's corporate law. They are focused on what is going on right now:

VU is proud to be the first university in Europe to offer a specific International Business Law degree that combines an all-round Master's in Business Law, with a specific focus on some of the most complex legal challenges of our day around climate change.

The VU campus is located in the heart of the Amsterdam business district Zuidas, the beating heart of the Netherlands’ legal community. The university has well-established relationships with many internationally operating companies based there. Many of the courses are also taught by academics who are also practicing lawyers. This network can provide great career opportunities for our International Business Master’s graduates.

Are you interested in the black letter law of global commercial transactions? Perhaps you are more concerned about the impact of climate change on international legal decisions? Or are you being keen on becoming a "T-shaped lawyer" and learning the context of corporate law through the wider lens of economics and behavioural science? The International Business Law Master’s programmes at VU Amsterdam is one of the least traditional sets of legal Masters in the world.
