Participation in the 'Coaching, Teaching, and Transformative Learning' course inherently involves engagement with the Broader Mind Course—an extracurricular, interdisciplinary programme designed to foster personal development and address societal issues such as success and failure, poverty, and sustainability. Upon completion, you will be proficient in facilitating group discussions and mentoring peers, employing classroom facilitation techniques, and assuming leadership roles. Ultimately, you will utilize these skills as guide for the course itself, transitioning from learners to leaders and peer educators.
In the Broader Mind Course, you will take on the role of a guide, supporting a group of 20 students over a four-month period. This role is unique, combining the perspectives of both learner and leader within an academic setting. Because guides are close in experience to their students, they bring a natural sense of relatability and approachability, helping to create an environment grounded in empathy and shared understanding.
With training in coaching and leadership, guides not only support others’ learning but also deepen their own through teaching. Ongoing coaching provides structured feedback and support, fostering a continuous cycle of development. Through reflective practice, guides critically engage with their experiences, generating meaningful personal and professional insights.
Due to the time-intensive nature of this trajectory, and the responsibilities involved, participants receive a modest financial remuneration.
