A practical approach to developing and testing explanations

Sem01 (2024-2025) Fundamentals - methods for explanation and understanding

Scientific theories pervade our lives. They have put men on the moon, keep you healthy and well-fed, and allow you to read these words on your screen. Theories explain how nature works. Explaining the world around us is what all of us (try to) do on a daily basis.

How did we develop the scientific theories we know today? How do we know that our explanations make sense? Constantly, we try to explain our situation, the behavior of other people, and events that befall us. But how do you verify and improve those explanations? In this course, you learn by doing: building and evaluating your own theories and creating proper explanations.

For more information and course details, go to 'Curriculum' at the top of the page.
