Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam manages various archives, both from its own organisation and outside it. For example, the University Library houses the rich archives of the HDC | Protestant Heritage collection and the VU archives that are part of the Academic Heritage. In addition, part of it is housed at the Stadsarchief Amsterdam.
In the period 2020-2024, the entire VU archives were processed and inventoried. Part of it went to the Stadsarchief Amsterdam, a part is under the management of the University Library.
