At VU Amsterdam, we believe that an enterprising attitude is needed to address social issues and create added value for our society. We foster an enterprising spirit among our students and staff, and ensure a climate of sustainable entrepreneurship, where societal impact is paramount.
We are convinced that our education, research, knowledge transfer and operational management benefit from an enterprising attitude. For us, enterprising means seeing and seizing opportunities. Being creative and courageous. Taking risks and experimenting. And taking responsibility, also for our fellow humans and the environment.
Being enterprising is foundational to innovation, renewal and successful collaboration. We therefore ensure that the VU Campus is an inspiring and vibrant place where academics, students, start-ups, scale-ups, VU alumni, companies and civil society organisations are given an abundance of opportunities to work together toward a better world. Our location in the heart of the most important business district in the Netherlands, the Zuidas Knowledge District, offers unique opportunities in this regard. In addition, VU Amsterdam has a pioneering role within the VSNU—an alliance of Dutch universities—in which we stimulate entrepreneurship across the board.
VU Amsterdam also plays a leading role in the Aurora Network within which we are developing an education programme for social entrepreneurship. This is the type of entrepreneurship that VU Amsterdam is particularly passionate about. We see it as the way to arrive at innovative and sustainable solutions to the wide-ranging issues facing society today.
