SBE ABL People

At SBE we have faculty-specific teams dedicated to educational innovation. Our educational strategy takes a multi-stakeholder approach and benefits from collaboration between leaders, specialists, students, and advisors.

Vice-dean for Education Mirella Kleijnen and Director of Education Michiel van Drunen lead our educational strategy together with the Student Representative. Two more teams are closely involved in supporting educators and investigating how innovations can be brought into practice.

SBE Centre for Teaching and Learning

Our dedicated SBE Centre for Teaching and Learning supports faculty members in course design, EdTech, and bringing Active Blended Learning to the classroom. SBE educators can reach out directly to this in-house SBE CTL team with questions about their course and how to innovate program delivery.

SBE educators can contact the team via ctl.sbe@vu.nl for help and inspiration on the following:

  1. Advice on instructional design. For example: co-identifying learning needs, co-developing learning activities that realize your learning objectives or increase engagement and impact, co-designing the learning structure of your course, reviving your assessment tools.
  2. Teacher professionalization. For example the Active Blended Learning approach, VU Mixed Classrooms approach, how and when to give feedback.
  3. SBE-specific knowledge and experience. Investigate educational innovations suited to SBE students and topics.

Educators' Collective

The SBE Educators' Collective is a team of faculty members who are themselves SBE educators, passionate about teaching and education innovation. The Educators' Collective advises SBE leadership on strategic direction for education. They consider implications of new technologies and educational policies, and run projects to advance educational innovation within the faculty.
