Studying in the University Library

Whether you want to concentrate for your exam, develop creative ideas or get started with SPSS: the University Library has a suitable study place for you.

Note: several study areas in the main building are now undergoing renovation (1st, 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th floors). Alternative study areas can be found on the 6th floor of the W&N building, among others.

A real-time overview of available spots in the UB can be found via the button on this page. 👉

Concentration spots
You will find quiet places on the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th floor of the VU Main Building.

Inspiration places
You can go to the 2nd floor if you prefer to study in a more informal atmosphere. Be inspired by art, plants and heritage or inspire someone else by leaving an exchange book.

You will find the open collections on the 9th and 10th floors. Here you can study in silence between the books.

Study places elsewhere at VU Amsterdam
You can find many more study areas scattered around the campus.

Online lectures
It is possible that you have an online course prior to or after a physical lecture. Not every student is able to follow the online lecture at home due to travel time. Therefore, on the 6th floor of the WN-building, special study places are available, both quiet rooms and interactive rooms. These spots are not meant for regular study activities.
