Graduate school van de afdeling Scheikunde en Farmaceutische Wetenschappen

Welkom op de website van de Graduate School van de afdeling Scheikunde en Farmaceutische Wetenschappen (S&F). Hier vind je alle informatie die relevant is voor het doen van een promotie bij onze afdeling.

Onze afdeling streeft ernaar een stimulerende en inspirerende omgeving te bieden voor al onze jonge onderzoekers. Gedurende het gehele traject word je begeleid door ervaren en internationale docenten en professoren.

Regels en formulieren
Een 4-jarige PhD-student dient 30 EC's te behalen. Binnen 3 maanden na de startdatum van het PhD moet het PhD Training and Supervision Plan (TSP) worden ingevuld volgens de richtlijnen (zie hieronder). In het PhD Actions and Timeline document vind je een overzicht van alle (administratieve) acties die uitgevoerd moeten worden binnen het PhD programma. PhD-studenten wordt aangeraden de tijdslijn zelf bij te houden.

Alle TSP's moeten aan het begin en aan het einde van je PhD worden goedgekeurd door de PhD-coördinator van de graduate school. Stuur TSP's naar dit adres: phdcoordination.sf@vu.nl. TSP's moeten eerst naar de PhD-coördinator worden gestuurd voordat ze worden geüpload in Hora Finita, anders loop je het risico dat je registratie wordt afgekeurd.

Supervisie en externe adviseur
Promovendi aangesteld binnen CPS worden begeleid door ten minste één promotor, bij voorkeur twee. De dagelijkse begeleiding is in handen van de direct supervisor, een van de stafleden van de afdeling CPS. Dit kan de promotor zijn of een van de universitair hoofddocenten. Daarnaast heb je een externe adviseur nodig, die de kandidaat en zijn/haar promotor minstens één keer tijdens het promotietraject ontmoet. Deze adviseur moet van buiten de onderzoekssectie komen, maar kan ook van binnen de afdeling of van andere afdelingen komen. Deze externe adviseur zal helpen bij het bijhouden van de voortgang en kan ervoor zorgen dat het proefschrift voldoet aan de standaarden in het vakgebied. Details moeten worden vermeld in de TSP-tabel.

External courses

  • Safescimet

    SafeSciMET presents a unique pan-European education and training network on drug safety. All drug safety professionals from industry and academia who want to address specific knowledge gaps are welcome to follow our courses.

    The SafeSciMET network consists of top institutes for drug safety education and research. Courses are tailor-made and encompass the safety, ethical, regulatory and societal aspects in all phases of drug development. Emphasis lies on integrative, translational and 3Rs aspects of drug safety assessment.

    The modular set up provides excellent opportunities for following dedicated subsets of courses. This can be accredited for continuing professional development. Scientists that successfully complete the full course programme and write an integrative Master’s thesis, will be awarded with an accredited Master of Advanced Safety Sciences of Medicines.

    SafeSciMET is an abbreviation for Education & Training Programme in Safety Sciences for Medicines and is funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative Joint Undertaking (IMI-JU).

  • Post-graduate education in toxicology

    Since 1989, toxicology departments of Dutch universities cooperate to offer a yearly Postgraduate Education in Toxicology programme. 

    The programme consists of courses of approximately one or two weeks each. The complete programme is such that it offers the participants the theoretical toxicological knowledge necessary for registration as a toxicologist, both with the Netherlands Society of Toxicology and with EUROTOX.

  • Biosb research school

    The BioSB education programme covers essential topics of the wide-ranging fields of bioinformatics and systems biology. 

    It offers a wide variety of training courses that enable life scientists to apply modelling and computational approaches in addressing scientific challenges.

  • Hrsmc research school

    The mission of the HRSMC is to provide its PhD students with high-level educational training. 

    They offer a selection of courses, such as Molecular Modelling, Physical Methods in Inorganic Chemistry, and Photophysics, Photochemistry and Photobiology (PPP).

  • KNCV Academy

    The KNCV Academy has developed a series of practical workshops and training courses for and by chemists in the areas of career guidance, personal development and practical skills. For every phase of your career. The activities are in line with practice and are provided by experts with a background in chemistry and given in a small, familiar setting with colleagues. The KNCV Academy focuses on professionals working in chemistry (business, research, education, government) and students who are following a chemistry or life sciences education in the Netherlands.

  • Elixir

    ELIXIR coordinates and develops life science resources across Europe so that researchers can more easily find, analyze and share data, exchange expertise, and implement best practices. ELIXIR organizes several courses, workshops and other events.
