How do you become a candidate for the elections?

Last updated on 6 June 2025
VU Amsterdam encourages all students to stand for election in the Student Council elections.

As a member of the University Student Council (USR) or one of the Faculty Student Councils (FSR), you help advise and decide on the future of VU Amsterdam. How to stand for election is explained below. A special explanation of the merger of FSW, FGW and FRT can be found at the bottom of the page.

Merger FSW, FGW and FRT

From 1 April 2025, FSW, FGW and FRT will merge to form the new FSG faculty. For the current elections (2025), we are working with a district system for the new FSG faculty. District 1 is for candidates from old-FGW and old-FSW and district 2 is for candidates from old-FRT. Want to stand for election to one of the districts? Follow the instructions from the Electoral Regulations. Students of former FGW and former FSW are only eligible to vote and stand for election with regard to district 1 and students of former FRT are only eligible to vote and stand for election for district 2.
