You may write your Master's thesis on a variety of topics. For more information about topics and the writing process, contact the thesis coordinator for your Master's programme. (Emails should include your name and VUnet ID).
Before you start working on your thesis, you will report to the thesis coordinator of your Master’s programme or specialization and you will present a preliminary research design.
In your research proposal, give a short description of how you chose your topic, the research question you are planning to use, and the research method you intend to apply. Please also provide a preliminary list of literature or legislation on the subject.
The preliminary interview is mandatory.
The thesis coordinator will find you a suitable supervisor who will then guide you through the process of writing your thesis.
Finally, the thesis supervisor will confer with a second assessor to determine your mark.
If you submit a complete thesis without the supervision of a faculty member, then you will not receive a mark.
In general, for all problems related to writing your thesis, you must turn to your thesis supervisor. Of course you can also always contact the faculty’s study advisors. If you have a dispute with your supervisor or you wish to submit a complaint about their guidance, then please contact your degree programme’s thesis coordinator. If a solution cannot be found in this way, then you can turn to the study advisor or the Examination Board.
