Study associations

Last updated on 4 December 2024
Would you like to be active in a study association? You're more than welcome!

A study association is, as the name implies, an association for students of the same study or faculty. The association is founded by students and focusses on the content of your studies, with an emphasis on fun and de-stressing.

Most study associations organise substantive activities for students of their own study or faculty. Usually, study associations can give you a discount on study books for your courses as well. Moreover, study associations do not have an introduction period (also known as the hazing or initiation period) and membership is often inexpensive.

If you become active in a study association yourself, you can participate in committees. You can help organise excursions or, for example, join the editorial board of the association magazine. You can also opt for a board year within the study association.

Under certain conditions, student board members of study associations may be eligible for support for study delay as a result of board activities (board grants). These conditions partly relate to the association and partly to the student board members themselves.
