Sem Vijverberg (PhD candidate in Climate Physics) explains: To make weather forecasts for a period of, say, a season, you need fundamental knowledge of both the climate system and the Earth. You need to know what’s going on, when and where, and whether a certain weather pattern will recur. So in these forecasts we look at ‘slow’ ingredients: tree moisture, the state of the ocean, the amount of sea ice. If something changes in these ingredients, this in turn affects the climate.
Climate change is exacerbating the unequal distribution of global wealth. I want to provide practical answers to social problems, and am well aware that the world is incredibly complex. I believe it is possible to create more equality and balance in the world. I’m working with others to do my part.
