Climate tipping point

Flooding, wildfires, swamps and melting ice... climate change has major consequences for people, the environment and society globally. What’s the state of our climate? What do we already see changing? What action needs to be taken now, and what policies should we make for the future?

At Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, we want to get to the bottom of the climate challenges in our research. Our scientists study the climate issue from different research disciplines. They investigate the complex climate system, analyse the impact of the changing climate on people and nature, and find out how the consequences of climate change can be limited through mitigation and adaptation, in order to secure both our own future and that of generations to come.
