Personal information

Meike Morren is an Assistant Professor at the department of Marketing, and the Scientific Coordinator of Sustainability at the Sustainability Office. Her research primarily focuses on sustainable consumer choices. With a background as a methodologist, she has a deep-seated interest in analytical methods, ranging from latent variable models to large language models (LLMs).

As the Scientific Coordinator of Sustainability at the Sustainability Office she plays a pivotal role in connecting researchers across faculties, motivating them to form interdisciplinary collaborations. These collaborations are essential in tackling the climate emergency through research projects that require diverse expertise. 

She is affiliated with Health Economics Research Amsterdam (HERA) and to Amsterdam Sustainability Institute (ASI).

Research

Her research primarily revolves around motivating consumers to make (more) sustainable choices and covers a diverse range of topics: a) support for policy to reduce meat consumption, b) consumers’ willingness to shop plastic-free, and c) consumers’ perceptions of the environmental legitimacy of brands and the influence of social media and independent news articles. She has published in Marketing Letters, Journal of Environmental Psychology and Sociological Methodology.
